Statement of Faith

In addition to our beliefs, Compass College and Seminary has provided below a more detailed statement of faith for our students to review. We do not require that students to access everything outlined in this statement, but our courses are taught within the light of this framework.

We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration, and preservation of the Holy Scriptures. The Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God, and forms the sufficient and sole basis and content for the believer’s faith and practice. For textual reliability and consistency in teaching and preaching, we accept Hebrew Masoretic Text of the Old Testament and the Greek Received Text of the New Testament. (Textus Receptus), from which the Authorized King James Version  of the Bible was translated.

II Timothy 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:20, 21; Matthew 4:4; Psalm 12:6-7; John 10:35; Matthew 24:35; Psalm 119:89; Revelation 22:18, 19; Psalm 19:7; Proverbs 30:5; I Corinthians 13:10

The Triune God, in perfect unity and harmony, works together in creation, redemption, and sanctification. Each person of the Trinity has distinct roles while maintaining the divine essence. God the Father, as the Creator and Sustainer, reveals His wisdom and providence. God the Son, through His incarnation and sacrificial work, offers salvation to humanity. God the Holy Spirit, as the divine helper and guide, empowers believers to live according to God's will.

Deut 6:4; II Cor. 13:14; John 1: 1-4; Heb. 1:1-3.

God the Father is the first Person of the Trinity. He is the eternal, unchanging, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent Creator of the universe. He is perfect in holiness, love, justice, grace, and truth. He sovereignly reigns over all of creation, working out His purposes in the world. God the Father sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world for the redemption of humanity. He draws believers to Himself and adopts them as His children.

Genesis 1:1; Psalm 90:2; Jeremiah 32:17; Psalm 139:1-4; Psalm 139:7-10: Isaiah 46:9-10; John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 6:18; John 1:14.

God the Son - Jesus Christ is the eternally existing only begotten Son of God and is Himself God. He was virgin born, sinless, and died vicariously on the cross for sinners. He arose bodily from the dead and ascended to the Father’s right hand where He intercedes for saints. Christ will come again in the clouds to meet raptured church-age saints in the air before the tribulation period. At the close of that period, He will come to establish a literal kingdom on earth for 1,000 years. Christ will be the final judge at the Great White Throne Judgment, and He will reign forever in the new heaven and the new earth.

John 1:1; Matthew 1:18-20; Luke 1:35; Hebrews 4:15; Matthew 5:17; Romans 3:24-26; 4:22-25: II Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 2:9-14; I John 2:2; 5:9-12; I Peter 2:24; Isaiah 53:11; Ephesians 1:7; I Corinthians 15:12-20; Matthew 28:5-6; Hebrews 7:23-25; Romans 1:4; I Thes. 4:16-17; Rev. 3:10; 20:3-4; I Cor. 15:51-53; II Thes. 2:1-11)

God the Holy Spirit is a Divine person, equal with the Father and the Son  He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment; He testifies of Jesus Christ; He is the agent of the new birth; that He permanently indwells at the moment of every believer’s salvation, sealing them unto the day of redemption; He bears witness without our spirit thereby giving the believer assurance; and He will never lead us contrary to the Word of God

He fills and empowers for service those who are yielded to Him. He bestows certain spiritual gifts outlined in the Scriptures, but these gifts no longer include the sign gifts (tongues, interpretation of tongues, healing, prophecy, miracles) which were given for a temporary period to confirm the Word that was preach; therefore, we believe that the Pentecostal/Neo-Pentecostal/Charismatic movement of our day is unscriptural, carnally motivated, and contrary to sound doctrine.

Acts 5:1-4; Mark 16:19-20; I Cor. 12:4-13, 13:8-11; John 3:8; 15:26-27, 16:7-15; I Cor. 12:13; Eph. 4:30; Rom. 8:14-16; Eph. 5:18; Acts 4:29-31

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that, in Adam’s sin, the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God; and that man, of himself, is utterly unable to remedy his lost condition (Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 3:22-23, 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3, 12).

We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to men by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose substitutional death on the cross of Calvary provides for the salvation of mankind. (Eph. 2:8-10; John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; I Peter 1:18-19).

We believe that the church is God’s institution for this age. Christ is the head of the church, and believers who have made a confession of faith in Jesus Christ and have been baptized by immersion are accepted into the body as members. The church primarily serves as a place of worship, education, fellowship, and the center to carry out the Great Commission. The local church is autonomous, free from any religious hierarchy or external control. The ordinances of the church that are observed are believers’ baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The church has two offices: pastor and deacon. The Great commission is the responsibility of the church and its members, throughout the communities and the entire world.

(Acts 2:42; Eph. 1:22-23; 5:23; 2 Thess. 3:6; Matt. 18:15-17; 1 Cor. 5:4-5, 12; 2 Thess. 3:6; 1 Tim. 3:15; Jude 3. Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:38; 1 Cor. 11:23-32; Phil. 1:1; 1 Tim. 2:12; 3:1-13. Acts 13:1-4; Rom. 16:1, 4; 1 Cor. 3:9, 16; 1 Pet. 5:1-4; Acts 1:8; 2:41-42; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:20).

Biblical fellowship is founded upon a shared like precious faith. Unity within a church is vital to carrying out the Great Commission but personal separation from believers is sometimes required when they choose not to live in accordance to the doctrine and practices of the Scriptures. In addition, ecclesiastical separation is required when churches accept doctrinal errors that prevent a unified fellowship of believers. Believers should live holy lives for He is Holy.
(Rom. 16:17; 1 Cor.5:11; 2 Thess. 3:6, 14-15; John 17:20-23; Rom. 12:1-2;14; 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1; Eph. 5:15-18; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 10-11)

We believe in the personal, bodily, pretribulational, premillennial, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, first to take His saints home to be with him at the rapture of the living and resurrection of the dead, and second to establish His earthly kingdom. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment. (Matt. 24:44; John 14:1-3; 1 Thess.4:4 -18; Titus 2:11-13; Matt. 25:46; John 5:28-29; 11:25-26; Rev. 20:5-6, 12-13; Dan. 7:9-14; Zech. 14:1-4; Mal. 3:1-2; Matt. 24:29-30; Acts 1:11; 2 Thess. 2:8; Rev. 1:7)
